In the life of every person there are ups and downs, moments ofhappiness, moments of ruin and hopelessness ...
Sometimes the difficult periods are long and painful, as if all the evils of the
world pour one after another. We feel alone, vulnerable and abandoned.
Trouble befalls us, for which we are absolutely unprepared.
Then we must remember that even in the most hopeless situation there is salvation, that sometimes life turns the most unexpected and the
successful outcome is before our eyes. We just have to see it.
The bad that happens to us may turn out to be the best for us over time. The
important thing is to be patient and not give in to despair and
self-destructive behavior. Let's wait patiently for the clouds to
disperse.
There once lived a fabulously rich man. But even though he had everything on earth, he was unhappy.
He was always sad and thoughtful and even looked like a sick person. He went to famous and
distinguished doctors, but they found him absolutely healthy and saw
no reason for his constant sadness. The rich man tried all sorts of
things to feel happier - he traveled the world,he started more and
more new activities, went to study with famous sages. Nothing helped.
He still felt unhappy...
One day he went to a spiritual master for advice.
"The problem is," said the teacher, "that you don't share your wealth
and success . If you want to be happy, help others."
This was already something new!
The rich man rejoiced and thought,
"After all, why not sacrifice some of my wealth for the poor and the
needy. If that's the solution to my problem, great! ”
But he soon realized that this task was not so easy.
Since he wasn't used to giving for something he didn't benefit
from, he didn't even know who to start with. Yes, many people did look
poor, but whether they were really poor or pretending, he thought.
On the other hand, those who really need help may be ashamed of their
poverty and hide it from pride.
"No, I should not give to anyone I come across ...
They may turn out to be unworthy people, to use what i give them for some bad deed," the rich man
concluded.
A way had to be found to show him who the really
needy were. He thought and thought, and finally he was enlightened.
" I will give to people who have lost all hope. This is the real misery!"
He went around shelters, prisons, streets and poor houses. But, alas!
He spoke to many people - sick, lonely, elderly, beggars, ruined and
abandoned by all people.
But no one got the answer:
"I have no hope anymore!"
And so, as he walked the streets, one day he heard a long
moan coming from some dilapidated house. He immediately set out, and
among the ruins he found a man in tattered clothes, all covered with
wounds, dirty and desperate. The unfortunate man seemed to be at his
limit.
- What happened to you? The rich man asked anxiously.
"Oh, don't ask ..." cried the unfortunate man. - Great trouble befell
me. I lost everything I had - my job, my home, my family, my money. I
don't even have anything to put in my mouth. I took shelter in this
old dungeon, but from the dirt now I got sick from some disease and
I'm all in wounds ...
"Can I ask you something, man?" - The rich man immediately came to
life. "Do you have hope?"
- Of course I have! As long as I am on earth, until I go to the grave,
I have hope. You know, remember one thing: Only those who are in the
cemetery have only hope!
The cemetery ?! the rich man repeated. If only those who are in the
cemetery have no hope, then I must give to them!
Well, it's
true that it's not the same as helping the poor, but I can try. At
least I will be sure that what I give will not fall into the wrong
hands.
He waited for the night, picked up a bag of money, and headed for the
cemetery. He dug up the first grave he came across and buried the
bag in it. And suddenly he felt better. It was as if a stone had
fallen from his shoulders. He finally found someone who had no hope.
Some years have passed. The rich man forgot about this period of his
life and about the bag buried in the grave. And he might
never have remembered this again if his life hadn't turned 180 degrees.
The time came when his success and wealth turned their backs on him.
At first he lost a small part of his possessions, then suffered a more
serious defeat and finally was completely ruined. He suddenly found
himself on the brink of poverty. He no longer had a roof over his head
or even anything to eat. Then you remembered the buried money.
That was his last hope! As many years ago, he waited until midnight
and headed for the cemetery with a shovel in his hand. He found the
grave and started digging. Suddenly he heard a voice behind him:
- Do not move! Slowly put down the shovel and stand up!
He carried out the orders and found himself face to face with the city guard.
"So you came in the middle of the night to steal from the dead!" shouted
the guard.
The poor man tried to explain something, but lost his mind and his
words out of fear and panic. He was taken to prison and taken to court
the next day. The once rich and successful man now stood poor and
despised, like an ordinary criminal, before a judge.
He himself realized that his story sounded ridiculous and that it was
almost impossible to believe him, but the only thing he kept repeating
were the words of that wretched man from the dilapidated house many
years ago: "While I'm on earth, until I go to the grave, I have hope.
"
After hearing the accusation, the judge turned to him and asked him:
- What can you say in your excuse?
"Your Honor, things are not as they seem." I did not want to rob the
graves of the dead. Many years ago, I buried some money in this grave
because I was looking for a person who had no hope left. Then I wanted
to donate to someone really in need, but I never found a person
who had lost the last drop of hope.
And one day, among some ruins, I
met a poor and fallen man, all covered with wounds. He had lost
everything, but to this day I remember his words that only those in
the cemetery have no hope. So I buried the money in a grave. But now I
myself have fallen out and decided to take them back.
"I'm sorry, Your Honor," the guard said, "but this man is obviously
lying." I have never heard anything more absurd than that. Do you
believe him?
"Yes, I believe him " the judge said, looking sympathetically at the
defendant. "This man is telling the absolute truth." Let him go.
When he was free, the former rich man walked happily down the street,
breathing fresh air and forgetting about all his troubles.
How lucky that this judge believed me! By the way, his face is very
familiar to me ... Where have I met him before? He thought...
"How does life turn ..." the judge thought after releasing the
defendant. "I will never forget the face of that man who asked me so
insistently if I had

“There is neither happiness nor misery in the world; there is only the comparison of one state with another, nothing more. He who has felt the deepest grief is best able to experience supreme happiness. We must have felt what it is to die, that we may appreciate the enjoyments of life."
