A friend of mine posted a picture of a charming bouquet of flowers…The Hydrangea flowers - and this reminded me of how much goodness there's in a plant. A plant so rich and beautiful that not only decorates our gardens and homes but also finds a great place in the treatment of a number of diseases.

The healing properties of the plant are used in the treatment of kidney and urinary tract infections, prostate gland dysfunction and very conveniently helps expel sand and stones from the kidneys.

In Chinese folk medicine, the plant is used to also treat bronchitis and high fever.

An extract from the roots of the flower is used in diseases such as psoriasis, sclerosis, diabetes, to relieve the condition of rheumatoid arthritis, gout, edema, etc.

In general the root of the hydrangea is used for medical purposes, which is taken out after the time of flowering. It is dried in the shade, having previously been thoroughly cleaned from the soil and cut into pieces about 5 cm long.

In 2009, scientists discovered that one of the active ingredients in the hydrangea root, has a beneficial effect on autoimmune diseases.

Research results were published in Science and HolisticOnline.com.

The discovery that hydrangea extract is effective in the treatment of autoimmune diseases is considered a major breakthrough, as most medications used in autoimmune diseases suppress the body's immune system.

Hydrangea root extract counteracts the bladder infections, kidney stones, urethral infections, enlarged prostate, inflammation of the prostate.

It strengthens the organs of the excretory system, especially the kidneys.

Hydrangea favors the ability of the kidneys to purify the blood and remove toxins from the body. It contributes to the dissolution of kidney stones and reduces the risk of their re-formation.

In case of enlarged and inflamed prostate, the reception of hydrangea can be combined with extracts of saw palmetto and corn cob.

Hydrangea roots can be prepared in different ways - in the form of decoction, tincture, liquid extract, powdered root, syrup or in the form of capsules and tablets.

If you are brave enough, you can prepare a decoction at home, with 2 to 4 teaspoons of the dried and ground Hydrangea roots, which boiled for 10-15 minutes in 300ml of water turn into a good remedy.

The dosage is as follows:

2-4 g of crushed root, three times a day; 2-4 milliliters of liquid extract - three times a day;

2-10 milliliters of tincture - three times a day;

2-4 teaspoons of dried root per 300ml of boiling water, and the decoction is also drunk three times a day.

The dosage of hydrangea roots, when taken in the form of capsules or tablets, depends on the concentration of the plant in them. It is usually around 1000-1500 milligrams.

Taking hydrangea for a short period of time is safe for most people when it is within the recommended dosage. For a short period we normally mean 7-9 days at most.

Side Effects:

In case of overdose, the most common side effects are not pleasant things - nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness and, less often, tightness in the chest area, this is why it is better to be careful and considerate when using the roots for treatment and consult with a specialist.

Even if you don't use Hydrangea roots for treatment, the flowers will definitely bring you joy and happiness.🙂

Over 400 years ago, alchemist and physician Paracelsus said: “All substances are poisons; there is none that is not a poison. The right dose differentiates a poison from a remedy.”
