The story goes that Ernest Hemingway wrote the gut-punching line "For Sale, Baby Shoes, Never Worn" to win a bet against his writer friends.
But there's no evidence that such a bet ever took place, and it's likely that one of the best-known works attributed to Hemingway has nothing to do with the author at all.
However the line exists and it punches not only the mind but the heart of the reader.
It is inevitably common for people to search for inspiration and inspiring reads indeed.
But sometimes real events take place that shake the whole existence of the person and make him/her reevaluate not only their whole outlook on Life itself but also question.
This story is not for everyone.
But this story is real and leaves an imprint on each conscious being.
This story is about a real boy, a 5 year old boy from a very poor family and his funeral today.
What could one possibly say when witnessing this side of life?
What is the lesson?
Many questions awaiting answers and many more better stay unanswered.
I find it quite challenging to express.
How many people witness the last breath of a little child?
What lessons do they learn in the spiritual path?
I leave these questions to the reader.
All you have to do is write one true sentence. Write the truest sentence that you know.
– Ernest Hemingway
Challenged by the real event, still not knowing what is the best line to say to a mother who just lost her child…
Inspired also by Hemingway though, I decided to write this not in search of enlightenment, but in search of real compassion… and for the first time I can not find the words… so… I'll just leave it here.
With sincere sadness.
Miroslav whose funeral takes place today may be staying much higher than all of us now. Perhaps he is the true Soul helper for many…
